Former Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido has signaled that he may leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if its ongoing internal crisis is not resolved.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa Service on Tuesday, Lamido expressed disappointment over what he described as deliberate efforts by certain individuals to weaken and destabilize the party. He warned that failure by the PDP leadership to address these divisions could force him to reconsider his political future.
“If we cannot find solutions to the problems facing the PDP, I will have no option but to look elsewhere,” Lamido said, noting that the party, once a unifying platform for Nigerians, is now plagued by infighting, leaving loyal members frustrated and disillusioned.
The elder statesman emphasized that continued internal wrangling could erode the party’s strength ahead of future elections, urging decisive action to restore unity and discipline. While reaffirming his commitment to democratic ideals, Lamido stressed that he would ultimately make a decision based on his political principles and personal convictions if the crisis persists.
