Multiple Vehicles Collide on Delhi-Sonipat Road Amid Dense Fog in Haryana

Multiple vehicles were involved in a collision on the Delhi-Sonipat road near Bahalgarh in Haryana on Monday, with at least one or two people reported injured. Eyewitnesses cited dense fog and low visibility as key factors leading to the accident.

According to reports, the sequence of the crash began when one car rammed into another, which came to a standstill on the road. Shortly after, a third vehicle collided with the stationary car, exacerbating the damage. One of the vehicles involved in the initial collision reportedly left the spot before authorities arrived. Visuals from the scene showed damaged cars scattered on the highway as police conducted an investigation.

An eyewitness described the incident: “First, one car hit another car. Then, one of the cars drove away, and the other remained stationary and damaged. A little while later, another car came and hit the damaged car from behind.”

The dense fog that covered the region has contributed to multiple accidents in recent days, reducing visibility and making driving conditions hazardous. Similar incidents were reported earlier on the Delhi-Mathura National Highway in Faridabad, where a speeding Hyundai Verna overturned multiple times and crashed into a railing near Sector 28 Metro Station.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued warnings for dense fog across Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Punjab on December 30. Reports indicated moderate fog with visibility around 300 metres near Ambala in Haryana as of 7:30 am Tuesday. Delhi was placed on red alert due to low visibility across several areas, prompting authorities to advise drivers to exercise caution and reduce speed on highways.

The recent spate of fog-related accidents highlights the continued risks faced by commuters in northern India during winter, with authorities urging extra vigilance on fog-prone routes.
