How Nigerians Can Get the Best Deals with Bango

Ademuyiwa Adebola Taofeek, CEO of Royale PR and co-founder of Bango Nigeria, is changing how Nigerians shop by helping them get real value for money. In an interview with Ibrahim Apekhade Yusuf, the techpreneur explained how his data-driven platform tackles arbitrary pricing and empowers consumers across all market segments, from fast-moving consumer goods to everyday essentials.

Taofeek described the Nigerian market as a “buyer’s nightmare” where arbitrary pricing often erodes disposable income. Bango was created to address this, offering real-time price comparisons from other buyers, rewarding sellers who are fair, and promoting transparency.

The name “Bango” comes from Bargain + Go, reflecting the platform’s goal: ensuring buyers save both money and time. Inspired by his personal experience of overpriced tomatoes in Lagos, Taofeek built a system that identifies fair prices and highlights trustworthy sellers nationwide.

The platform is community-powered, with buyers posting prices and reporting inconsistencies, ensuring the information remains accurate and reliable. While currently bootstrapped, Bango is designed for ease of use, with a seamless interface for both literate and illiterate users. The team also plans to integrate local dialects, making the platform accessible to more Nigerians.

Bango aims to reshape Nigeria’s market ecosystem, proving that informed consumers can drive better pricing and smarter purchases.
