Ariana Grande, the superstar singer and actress, shared a deeply emotional moment on the Shut Up Evan podcast when she was surprised by a message from Sarah Jessica Parker. The unexpected voicemail left Grande in disbelief and prompted her to reflect on her journey as an artist.
Sarah Jessica Parker Surprises Ariana Grande
During her appearance on the Shut Up Evan podcast on October 24, 2025, host Evan Ross Katz told Grande:
“I know you’re a huge fan of Sarah Jessica Parker. I wanted to bring the icon Sarah Jessica Parker into the conversation.”
The voicemail from Parker, the Sex and the City star, praised Grande’s talent:
“She’s so extraordinarily gifted and has at this point and for quite a while achieved an authority and a kind of control of her career. My question is, when she was little… what did she imagine it would be when she said to a parent, a sibling, a co-worker, or even at a young age, ‘I want to be an actor’? What did she think, and how radically different is it now?”
Grande’s reaction was a mix of shock and joy.
“I love her so much. What a thoughtful and gentle and caring question… I can’t believe she knows who I am,” Grande said, visibly emotional.
Grande Reflects on Her Journey in Music and Acting
Grande candidly shared how her perspective on performing has evolved over the years.
“It’s entirely different. I was so focused on just art and singing and laughter and comedy and performing and acting. I like to make people laugh, I like to disappear into character — that’s always been the thing that excites me most,” she explained.
She also addressed the challenges of fame:
“The fame element is peculiar and hard to navigate, especially as a person who… I feel everything. That’s my gift and sometimes my curse. I wasn’t prepared for that part.”
Despite the difficulties, Grande expressed pride in the work she’s done to separate herself from the pressures of fame while continuing to pursue her passion for music and acting.
