Abia LGA Chairman Visits Victims of Okon-Aku Crisis

The Executive Chairman of Ohafia Local Government Area, Eleanya Kalu, has visited victims of the recent Okon-Aku community crisis, which left a youth, Igwe Akuma Akwu, dead and several properties destroyed by fire.

Chairman Kalu visited the family of the deceased to offer condolences and also checked on residents whose homes were burnt, including the families of traditional rulers Eze Ndukwe Iko, Eze Bernard Nkama, and others affected by the violence.

He appealed for calm, urging families and community members to engage in peaceful dialogue to resolve differences.

“We condemn the acts of violence and destruction that took place last weekend in Okon-Aku. Such actions are unacceptable and detrimental to peace, unity, and development,” Kalu said.

To prevent further escalation, he confirmed that security personnel have been deployed permanently to the community to protect lives and property. He commended the security agencies for their efforts in containing the crisis and directed that they remain in the area to maintain order.
