Hyderabad, January 9, 2026 – A tragic road accident near Mirzaguda, Mokila in Ranga Reddy district claimed the lives of four college students in the early hours of Thursday, leaving another critically injured.
Details of the Accident
The accident occurred at approximately 1:30 am when a sports car carrying five students lost control and collided with a roadside tree. The force of the crash was so severe that the vehicle reportedly split into two pieces.
The deceased were identified as:
- Kargayala Sumith (20) – BBA student, ICFAI Business School (IBS)
- Sri Nikhil (20) – BBA student, IBS
- Devala Surya Teja (20) – BBA student, IBS
- Balmuri Rohith (18) – Engineering student, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology
The injured student, Sunkari Nakshatra (20), also a BBA student from IBS, was immediately rushed to a corporate hospital in Hyderabad. Police reported that her condition is critical.
Circumstances of the Crash
According to preliminary police reports:
- The group was returning to Hyderabad after dropping a friend at Mokila.
- The car was reportedly speeding when it lost control.
- Police are investigating whether overspeeding or reckless driving contributed to the crash.
- It is not yet known if alcohol or any other factors were involved, including whether the driver, Sumith, was under the influence at the time.
Response and Investigation
Local police from Mokila station arrived promptly, shifting the injured student to a hospital and transporting the deceased to Chevella Government Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
A case of accidental death has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash and any contributing factors. Authorities are expected to examine:
