Osun 2026: Adeleke Confirmed as Accord Party’s Sole Candidate

The Chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, Victor Akande, has reaffirmed that Governor Ademola Adeleke remains the party’s sole candidate for the August 8 governorship election.

Speaking to journalists, Akande dismissed claims that Clement Bamigbola is contesting under a supposed faction of the party, describing such reports as “a waste of time and resources.”

“The kangaroo primary purportedly held by a non-existent faction is just a ruse. Such a faction does not exist within our party structure by law,” Akande said.

He assured that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would recognise Governor Adeleke as the legitimate Accord Party candidate, citing INEC’s handling of elections in Anambra and Ekiti states.

“Those spreading the existence of a factional candidate are merely political jobbers seeking attention and pecuniary gain. Governor Adeleke has no rival for the party ticket,” Akande added.

On the prospect of facing the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, Akande expressed confidence in Adeleke’s re-election bid.

“The people of Osun rejected APC in 2022 and will speak even louder in August to re-elect Governor Adeleke for another four-year term,” he said.
“We remember how APC governed when they were last in power, reducing workers to beggars with half salaries. Osun will not return to that era of darkness.”

With the stage set for a three-horse race in Osun, Accord Party remains steadfast behind Adeleke as it prepares for the 2026 governorship contest.
