
Two tankers transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) fell at separate locations in Ibadan, Oyo State, within a span of 24 hours, authorities confirmed.
The first incident occurred Wednesday evening along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near Methodist. The tanker, with registration number A143XA (Osun), was carrying 33,000 litres of PMS when it lost control, veered into a nearby ditch, and spilled its contents.
Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, stated that no casualties were recorded. Firefighters, in coordination with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), quickly contained the spill using chemical foam, preventing any fire outbreak.
The second incident took place Wednesday along the Ibadan-Oyo Expressway in Ojoo. A tanker with registration KJA67XF (Lagos), loaded with 40,000 litres of PMS, swerved off the road. Again, no casualties were reported. Fire service officers, with support from the Federal Fire Service Ibadan Command and other security agencies, applied chemical foam to neutralize flammable content and prevent fire.
Akinwande emphasized that both operations were conducted efficiently, restoring normal vehicular movement shortly after the incidents.
