Peter Obi Boosts ADC’s Nationwide Confidence, Says Party Chieftain

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has credited Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, with strengthening the party’s confidence across Nigeria.

Prof. Festus Arunaye, national member of ADC’s Membership Revalidation, Mobilization, and Registration Committee (MRMRC), spoke during the inauguration of the 10-member Delta State committee on membership registration in Asaba. He said Obi brought integrity, discipline, and strong economic insight to the coalition, raising the party’s profile.

“Peter Obi is a man of integrity. He understands economic management above average. His presence in the coalition earns him an ‘A’ for excellence. Some are panicky now because Obi has joined us,” Arunaye said.

He also noted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar supports a free, fair, and credible primary process, and believes in collective victory, positioning the ADC as a party to watch in upcoming general elections.

In line with reforming party operations, Arunaye revealed that ADC has introduced state-specific, tamper-proof membership cards, with strict electronic payment directly to a national account, eliminating middlemen and godfather influence.

“If you live in a remote village, you will have the same access to party membership as anyone in Abuja or Lagos. Your name, your payment, and your membership will count—nationally. This is how confidence is built. This is how faith in democracy is restored,” he said.

The membership card costs ₦500, not as a revenue source but as a symbol of commitment, reflecting ADC’s stance against corruption and money-bag politics.

Prof. Arunaye also clarified that the ADC is unified and faction-free, projecting a membership of 2.3 million in Delta State, emphasizing that the party is inclusive, transparent, and committed to grassroots engagement.
