South-East Endures Hardship Under Buhari, Faces Greater Challenges Under Tinubu – Nwodo

Former Enugu State Governor Okwesilieze Nwodo has stated that the South-East region has faced significant challenges under the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing both the eight-year tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari and the current administration of President Bola Tinubu as particularly difficult for the zone.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Nwodo said the APC has struggled to gain acceptance in the South-East due to perceptions that it targets the region for marginalization and oppression.

“Unfortunately, since APC was formed, it has never taken root in the South-East. It has been seen as the party that singles out our region for oppression,” Nwodo explained.

He noted that while the Buhari administration imposed tough conditions on the South-East, the challenges under Tinubu’s government have been even more pronounced.

“Eight years of Buhari were quite difficult for our people, and the two-and-a-half years of President Bola Tinubu have been even more difficult. Naturally, people don’t gravitate towards APC. Our leaders may align with the party for reasons best known to them, but they do not represent the general public,” he added.

Nwodo’s comments underscore ongoing political tensions in the South-East, reflecting widespread dissatisfaction with the ruling party despite the alignment of some regional leaders.
