Defending champions Paris St-Germain have been knocked out of the Coupe de France after suffering a surprising 1-0 home defeat to Paris FC.
PSG, who lifted the trophy for the 16th time last season, dominated possession and created several chances but were unable to break down their newly promoted city rivals.
Ikone Secures Historic Win for Paris FC
The decisive moment came from Jonathan Ikone, a former PSG academy graduate, who scored the only goal after a perfectly timed counter-attack.
FC goalkeeper Obed Nkambadio was in top form, making several key saves, including a spectacular stop from a late Vitinha long-range effort.
Paris St-Germain’s loss marks their first last-32 exit in the Coupe de France since 2014, ending a decade-long streak in the competition.
Ikone celebrated:
“We’re really happy, we managed to defend well. I’m really happy with my goal, it’s just a joy, and I hope it’s not my last goal.”
Previous Encounters
Earlier this month, the sides faced off in the first top-flight Paris derby since 1990, where PSG edged a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele.
The latest result underlines the growing competitiveness in French football and gives Paris FC a historic cup moment.
