Singer Portable Arraigned, Remanded Over Assault and Car Theft Allegations

Popular singer Habeed Okikiola, known as Portable, was arraigned on Monday at the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, facing a nine-count criminal charge including assault, theft, causing harm, and resisting arrest.

The arraignment follows a viral video showing the singer in police custody after a complaint was reportedly filed by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple.

According to Ogun State Police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, Portable allegedly assaulted Ashabi, several police officers, and other individuals at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo on New Year’s Day. Alleged victims include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.

Portable is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300, valued at N12 million, belonging to Ileyemi and purchased from Wally Dex Auto. Two siblings of Ashabi Simple testified as witnesses, though Ashabi was absent.

The police further allege that Portable obstructed and assaulted a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, during her official duties.

The presiding judge denied bail, citing the absence of the assaulted officer, and ruled that the officer must be present before bail can be considered. Portable was remanded in custody, with a new bail hearing scheduled for January 19, 2026.
