Northampton Saints have announced that tight-head prop Luke Green has signed a new deal with the Premiership leaders, continuing his progression at the club.
The 24-year-old front-row forward joined Saints ahead of the 2025 season after a stint in the United States with San Diego Legion. Since arriving, Green has become an integral part of the squad, making 24 appearances in the 2024-25 season, including his first try against Newcastle last April, and has featured in six games so far this term.
Growth and Leadership
Director of Rugby Phil Dowson praised Green’s attitude and impact on the team:
“We’ve seen huge growth in Luke throughout his time at the club so far. He wants to improve, he wants constant feedback, he wants to be coached hard, and he wants to help the players around him. To have that level of attitude and leadership at his age, and to be competing with the tight-heads we have here, is really impressive.”
Green’s professionalism and commitment have made him a standout figure in Saints’ front row, and his progress mirrors that of teammates Josh Kemeny, Tom Lockett, and Craig Wright, who also signed new contracts since Christmas.
Credit to Coaching Team
Green highlighted the role of scrum coach Jaco Pienaar in his development:
“Technically he’s excellent and has made meaningful adjustments to our scrum. He’s also picked up a couple of personal things for me that have been significant, and from a system point of view he’s made some smart changes as well.”
Green has also featured for England A, demonstrating his growing influence at both club and representative level.
Contract Details
Northampton Saints have not disclosed the length of Green’s new contract, but his continued presence strengthens the Premiership leaders’ front-row options as they aim to maintain their title challenge.
