Nestoil Limited and Neconde Energy Limited have refuted what they describe as false and misleading narratives circulating in parts of the media regarding their ongoing legal disputes with a consortium of lenders. The companies emphasized that no court has declared any winners or losers in the cases.
In a statement dated January 13, 2026, both firms said attention had been drawn to “sponsored posts” following proceedings at the Supreme Court on January 12, 2026. The companies clarified that the apex court neither issued adverse rulings nor made negative remarks against any party involved.
The dispute began in October 2025, with the consortium of lenders filing a suit at the Federal High Court, Lagos Judicial Division. Subsequent proceedings at that court were stayed by ex-parte orders from the Court of Appeal obtained by the lenders.
Out of respect for the Supreme Court and judicial process, Nestoil and Neconde stated they would refrain from commenting on the merits of the case while it is ongoing. However, they addressed false claims of misunderstandings or rifts involving their legal team, describing them as baseless and intentionally misleading.
The companies reiterated their confidence in their legal representation, describing their Senior Counsel as eminent, and reaffirmed their faith in Nigeria’s judiciary. They stressed that the ongoing litigation would be resolved fairly through due process.
“Nestoil and Neconde remain committed to due process, and our confidence in our retained legal team and the judiciary is unshaken,” the statement concluded.
