England’s Laurie Canter produced a moment to remember at the DP World Genesis Championship in Cheonan, South Korea, sinking an extraordinary 100-foot eagle putt on the 18th hole to secure a tie for second place. The remarkable finish ensured Canter shared second place with Spain’s Nacho Elvira, finishing at eight under par, just three shots behind South Korea’s Jung-Hwan Lee, who claimed victory on home soil.
Canter’s Spectacular Finish
Canter, 35, capped off a sensational final round with three birdies, including the dramatic 100-foot putt that electrified the gallery. His performance underscored his resilience and skill, earning him a memorable spot on the leaderboard alongside Elvira.
“This was my best round, especially as the gallery out there were really cheering for me. They gave me the strength I needed,” Canter said after the round.
The putt ranks among the longest holings of the 2025 professional season, with Patrick Fishburn’s 106-foot putt at the Texas Open in April currently holding the record for the longest in a major professional tournament. Canter’s effort reminded fans of his three professional wins and his reputation as one of England’s most exciting golfers.
Jung-Hwan Lee Clinches Victory
South Korea’s Jung-Hwan Lee dominated the final round with an impressive seven-under 64, holding off the competition to take the Genesis Championship title. Lee’s performance on the back nine proved decisive as Spain’s Elvira bogeyed the 11th and 17th holes, ending his chances of a playoff.
“I just hope I can live up to their expectations in the future as well,” Lee told Sky Sports, reflecting on the home crowd support that carried him through a stellar round.

Fellow Englishman Andy Sullivan finished tied for fourth with a final-round 70, while Italy’s Andrea Pavan and Japan’s Yuto Katsuragawa shared fifth at seven under. The leaderboard also featured notable performances from:
