Former Rivers SSG Tammy Danagogo Requests Rescheduling of Police Summons Over Alleged Plot Against Wike

Port Harcourt-based law firm, Danagogo, Oputa & Associates, has formally requested the rescheduling of a police invitation for its principal, former Rivers State Secretary to the Government (SSG) Tammy Wenike Danagogo, amid an ongoing investigation into an alleged assassination plot targeting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

In a letter dated January 13, 2026, addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Guzape District, Abuja, the firm stated that Danagogo would be unable to appear on Thursday, January 15, 2026, as initially scheduled, due to being out of town. The letter requested that the appointment be moved to Monday, January 26, 2026, to allow Danagogo to comply with the summons.

The invitation, referenced CR: 3000/FID/IRT/ABJ/ADM/VOL. 9/57, is reportedly linked to a leaked audio recording in which a plot to assassinate Wike was allegedly discussed. A previous summons issued by the IRT on January 9 instructed Danagogo to report in person at the IRT complex in Guzape, Abuja, and to meet with CSP Hillary Ugwuanyi and his team. The police described the invitation as a “fact-finding exercise in the interest of justice and fairness,” citing Section 53(2)(c) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

Sources familiar with the investigation indicated that the audio recording allegedly involved discussions about engaging Israeli nationals to carry out the assassination, with potential funding from Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Danagogo, a known ally of Fubara, served as SSG before a deepening political rift emerged between Fubara and Wike.

Earlier, Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, a medical doctor and pastor based in Port Harcourt, was arrested in connection with the alleged plot. Security operatives reportedly intercepted a phone conversation between Gbeneol and Danagogo, prompting Gbeneol’s detention. Investigations are ongoing to secure Danagogo’s appearance, amid claims he has gone underground since the matter became public.

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed that a suspect had been apprehended and is currently in custody, with investigations continuing.
