Popular Nigerian media personality Kayode Ojuolape, widely known as Do2dtun, has reacted to Nigeria’s painful exit from the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), blaming poor officiating for the Super Eagles’ defeat.
Nigeria crashed out of the tournament on Wednesday night after losing 4–2 on penalties to host nation Morocco, following a tense 120-minute goalless draw at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
While many fans focused on Nigeria’s missed penalties, much of the post-match debate centred on the performance of Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea, whose decisions drew heavy criticism from Nigerian supporters. Several fans accused the referee of bias, suggesting host advantage and long-standing football rivalry may have influenced key calls during the match.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Do2dtun voiced his frustration, stressing that poor officiating can severely affect a team’s confidence and overall performance.
“Let me also say this; bad officiating depletes performance. Whether you say they had fewer shots on goal or not, bad officiating kills the morale of a team. They played against everything,” he wrote.
According to Do2dtun, the Super Eagles were not only battling Morocco on the pitch but were also dealing with unseen challenges that made it difficult to maintain focus and belief throughout the match.
His comments sparked mixed reactions online, with many fans agreeing that questionable refereeing affected the team’s morale, while others argued that Nigeria’s failure to convert penalties ultimately cost them the game.
Despite the controversy, Nigeria’s AFCON journey ended at the semi-final stage, leaving fans heartbroken and divided over what truly caused the Super Eagles’ exit.
