Nollywood actress Georgina Onuoha has raised concerns over growing toxicity within the online community supporting May Edochie, the estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie.
In a detailed post shared on Instagram, Onuoha warned that malicious individuals have infiltrated May’s fan base, popularly known as “May Nation,” using her name to issue threats, spread hostility, and misrepresent her character.
While acknowledging that many supporters genuinely stand for May’s dignity and justice, Onuoha noted that some social media pages operating under the May Nation label have become increasingly hostile, sending offensive and threatening messages in her name.
She stressed that such behaviour does not reflect May Edochie’s personality, describing her as peace-loving, kind, and family-oriented, despite the challenges and harassment she has endured. According to Onuoha, May has consistently chosen grace and restraint over confrontation.
A longtime supporter of May during her marital struggles, Onuoha urged fans to emulate May’s calm and dignified approach rather than engage in online attacks. She cautioned that allowing outsiders to weaponise May’s name could damage the reputation of the supportive community built around her.
Onuoha further disclosed that someone close to her recently received a disturbing message threatening their children, allegedly from a page claiming to represent May Nation. She condemned the act, describing it as a deliberate attempt to provoke May into reacting publicly. She maintained that such efforts would not succeed in disrupting May’s peace.
She clarified that May Nation has no official leadership or structure, explaining that it is simply a collective of people united by admiration for May Edochie and her stance on justice. She encouraged supporters to remain vigilant, reject cruelty, and continue defending May with integrity and restraint.
Concluding her message, Onuoha referenced the Igbo proverb “ama ndi aneze”—meaning dignity in silence—noting that May’s strength lies in her grace and composure, and urging her supporters to reflect those same values.
