Shettima Leads Nigerian Delegation at 56th World Economic Forum in Switzerland

Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima arrived in Davos, Switzerland, on Sunday to head Nigeria’s delegation at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), scheduled from January 19 to 23, 2026.

Shettima came directly from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya on Saturday. Upon arrival in Switzerland, he was received by Nigeria’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yussuf Tuggar, and Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, alongside officials from the Nigerian mission in Switzerland.

This year marks a historic milestone for Nigeria at WEF with the official debut of “Nigeria House Davos”—a sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade created through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The pavilion will serve as a hub for ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, and cultural diplomacy throughout the forum.

During the event, Vice President Shettima will present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to global political and business leaders, while participating in plenaries on Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology. He is also scheduled for bilateral meetings with heads of state, multinational executives, and development finance leaders to advance partnerships aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s administration.

Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, said Nigeria will make a robust presentation of investment opportunities at the Nigeria House launch. “We will showcase four strategic playbooks on President Tinubu’s economic reforms, focusing on solid minerals, climate-smart agriculture, and the creative and digital sectors,” she stated.
