A multiple-vehicle collision at Kara Bridge inward Mowe along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway left two people dead and several others injured on Saturday.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that the crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. and involved a loaded long truck that tipped onto its side, colliding with a Toyota Corolla, a Toyota RAV4 SUV (LSR-618-HS), and two loaded interstate Mazda buses (APP-835-XY and JJJ-538-YE).
LASTMA officers, codenamed PAPA OSCAR, were on the scene to manage traffic, while tow trucks were deployed to remove the wreckage and clear the road. Injured victims were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
“Two fatalities were recorded, and several people were injured. Recovery operations are still ongoing,” LASTMA said.
The crash caused severe traffic congestion, with backups extending to the Secretariat area and River Valley/Kosoko. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes as authorities continue recovery and investigation efforts.
