The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended a suspected drug kingpin, Lekan Jimoh, aka Kanmo-kanmo, 12 years after he allegedly orchestrated the murder of three NDLEA officers.
Jimoh was tracked to his hideout in Owode, Ogun State, on Friday, January 16, 2026, following credible intelligence. During the operation, operatives recovered 69 kilograms of skunk cannabis.
The NDLEA said Jimoh had mobilized armed thugs on June 15, 2014, to attack officers attempting to arrest him, resulting in the deaths of three personnel, including Rabiu Usman Kazaure. He had evaded capture for over a decade, but the agency maintained a relentless manhunt.
In a previous raid on his Ado-Odo residence in August 2023, operatives recovered 1,922 kilograms of skunk. The house, which had served as a drug warehouse, was subsequently forfeited to the Federal Government.
The agency also reported multiple drug arrests and seizures across nine states:
- Edo State: Isihor Edika, 53, arrested with 320kg of skunk.
- Abuja: Yinka Agboola, 44, apprehended for selling drugs online; 2.2kg of skunk and cannabis oil recovered. Another suspect, Tordue Pius Richard, caught with cocaine and skunk.
- Lagos: 118.1kg of skunk seized in Mushin; 157,519 bottles of codeine syrup intercepted at Apapa Port in a joint operation with Customs and other security agencies.
- Enugu: 116kg of skunk recovered from a warehouse.
- Delta, Oyo, Kwara, Jigawa: Large seizures of tramadol, codeine syrup, and cannabis.
The NDLEA said these operations demonstrate its sustained commitment to tackling drug trafficking and ensuring the enforcement of Nigeria’s drug laws.
