Peter Obi Pays Tribute, Attends Burial of Highlife Legend Mike Ejeagha

The former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Friday honored the late highlife music icon, Mike Ejeagha, by attending his burial in Imezi-Owa, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Obi revealed that he traveled from Lagos to Enugu that morning to pay his final respects to the legendary musician, whom he described as a man whose legacy “deeply influenced society through his outstanding contributions to culture and music.”

In a post on his official X page, Obi shared a solemn account of the ceremony, stating, “In the quiet solemnity of that sacred moment, surrounded by his loved ones and a reverend father, we offered prayers at his graveside, commending his noble soul to the Almighty.”

He noted that Ejeagha’s life should serve as a reminder of “the beauty of a life dedicated to service, culture, and truth,” and expressed a hope that his memory would inspire others to use their gifts for the good of society.
