APC Bolsters Kano Base as 650 NNPP Members Defect

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strengthened its support base in Kano State with the defection of 650 members from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The defectors, who hailed from Gobirawa Ward in Dala Local Government and parts of Fagge and Ungoggo, were formally received on Thursday by the Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Rabiu Bichi.

Bichi welcomed the new members, attributing their move to the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the APC’s principles of fairness and inclusiveness. He highlighted the successes of the Renewed Hope Agenda, such as the student loan scheme and agricultural initiatives, as key factors attracting new supporters.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alhaji Ahmad Gobirawa stated their decision was “inspired by the visible achievements recorded by President Tinubu in less than two years in office.”

The event was described as a significant political gain for the APC, underscoring its ongoing grassroots mobilization efforts in the state.
