
The Nigerian Army has neutralized two terrorists, arrested 20 suspects, and rescued 17 kidnap victims in coordinated operations across multiple states over the past 48 hours.
A military source told The Nation that three Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters—Fannami Ari (aka Abu Dujana), Hussaini Hassan Modu (aka Abu Yusuf), and one unnamed trainee—surrendered to troops in Borno State, citing disillusionment with terrorist leadership and poor living conditions.
In Borno, the 192 Battalion, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged ISWAP/JAS fighters in Hudugum village, Gwoza LGA, successfully neutralizing two terrorists.
In the North West, 1 Brigade foiled two coordinated kidnapping attempts in Zamfara State, rescuing 11 victims along the Magami–Jan Gemi and Kucheri–Bilbis routes.
Synchronized raids by Operations ENDURING PEACE and WHIRL STROKE across Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, and Kaduna states resulted in the arrest of 15 suspected kidnappers, cultists, and cattle rustlers, the rescue of four additional victims, and the recovery of arms and ammunition.
In the South-South, 29 Battalion dismantled two illegal oil refining camps in Biseni, Bayelsa State, while 34 Artillery Brigade intercepted 62 sacks of stolen crude oil (over 3,000 litres) in Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State, disrupting oil theft activities.
The military emphasized that these sustained operations highlight its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, combating criminal activities, and restoring peace and stability across Nigeria.
