
Anambra State Governor and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, intensified his campaign in Ekwusigo and Nnewi South LGAs ahead of the November 8 election.
At a rally in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo, Soludo urged residents to ensure their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) were ready, stressing that active participation in the electoral process is key to shaping the state’s future. He also highlighted his administration’s focus on security, infrastructure, human capital, and healthcare over the next four years.
Community leaders, including Sir Jude Mbaegbu and Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, pledged full support, with residents donating a total of N151 million to his campaign. In Nnewi South, residents contributed an additional N85 million, underscoring local commitment to his leadership.
Governor Soludo’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, said the governor thanked residents for their overwhelming support and assured them that his administration’s achievements are just the beginning. Leaders such as Chief Chidi Anyaegbu and Senator Emmanuel Nwachukwu also reaffirmed their support for APGA.
Healthcare Achievements Highlighted
Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, showcased the administration’s healthcare projects to select journalists. These include:
- Five new general hospitals in Anambra North senatorial zone
- Specialist Hospital, Fegge, Onitsha South, and a Trauma Center at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka
- Rehabilitation Center at Nibo
- Oxygen plants at Enugwu Ukwu and Federal Medical Center, Onitsha
The government has also introduced free antenatal care and delivery services in all state-owned hospitals, benefiting over 175 women since inception, and provides free education up to SS3.
Obidike noted that all health facilities are fully equipped, staffed with qualified doctors, and feature innovations such as solar power, telemedicine, and emergency medical services with over 40 ambulances. He emphasized the rehabilitation of abandoned hospitals and the closure of illegal “baby factories,” ensuring safe and regulated healthcare.
According to the Commissioner, 1,500 health workers have been recruited, salaries have been doubled, and the administration aims to make Anambra a model state for healthcare delivery, underlining the need for continuity to consolidate progress.
