Two people lost their lives and several others were seriously injured in a road accident at the Osisioma axis of the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt expressway, involving a packed truck and a white Toyota Sequoia.
According to reports, the SUV collided with the truck, which was reportedly parked on the expressway, resulting in the instant death of two passengers. The injured were promptly transported to a hospital for medical attention.
In response, the Abia State Harmonized Task Force (ASHTF), Aba zone, sealed the premises of the company that owns the truck to facilitate a thorough investigation. Aba zonal coordinator Uche Wogi confirmed that the premises would remain closed until further notice.
The incident drew condemnation from local lawmakers, including Iheanacho Nwogu and Fyne Ahuama, members of the Abia State House of Assembly representing Osisioma Ngwa North and South constituencies, who described the accident as disturbing.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abia State Sector Command, has yet to issue an official statement on the crash, despite multiple inquiries.
