Actor Charles Born has marked a significant milestone in his career, celebrating his one-year anniversary in Nollywood. The actor took to Instagram to express gratitude for the opportunities that have propelled his success in the industry.
In his post, Born reflected on his humble beginnings, sharing his journey from a career in radio to pursuing acting. He opened up about the struggles and rejections he initially faced in the entertainment industry. Despite these challenges, he remained determined and took the leap to pursue acting full-time.
Looking back, Born expressed immense gratitude for how far he has come, crediting his perseverance for his impressive achievements — over 40 films in just one year. He also acknowledged his support system, including his manager and the Nollywood community, for playing a vital role in his success.
Born’s heartfelt message read:
“It is with tears in my eye that I type this, but not tears of sadness but tears of gratitude. I was having a conversation with my manager @celestine_queen, and I mentioned how it’s officially my 1-year anniversary in Nollywood. She goes, ‘it’s a lie you are just one year in Nollywood?’ In that moment, I understood in real time what God has done for me. Two years ago, I moved from full-time radio to part-time to see if I could chase this acting thing, but one year after that… NOTHING! Even though I was still doing part-time radio, I did everything they said: auditions, DM directors, shoot monologues, but all I was met with was silence. Then in 2024, I decided to chase it fully and resigned completely from radio, very broke, with only 13k in my account. And one year later, we are here! OVER 40 FILMS!”
He continued, “If you told me in 2023 that one day you would google me and ‘Nigerian Actor’ would pop up, I would have laughed you to scorn, but look at God!”
He took a moment to express gratitude to everyone who believed in him and gave him a chance:
“To every single person who gave me a chance, THANK YOU! If I begin to list names, I won’t finish! But this boy is grateful.”
Born, who recognizes that he hasn’t yet reached the peak of his career or landed his dream role, remains thankful for the growth, opportunities, and lessons he has gained in his first year. He encouraged fellow dreamers to continue pursuing their aspirations:
“Have I gotten to the peak? NO! Have I gotten that dream role? NO! But I’m grateful for the journey, the growth, the opportunities, the lessons, and above all, grateful for the gift of time. So to every dreamer, don’t stop dreaming, chasing, and believing because in the words of @realwarripikin, ‘na who give up lose’.”
