Nigerian actress Queeneth Hilbert has been accused of allegedly using the Nigeria Police to arrest filmmaker and activist Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, after a heated social media confrontation between the two.
According to a close associate of Ontop, the clash began when Hilbert reportedly called the filmmaker “gay” during an exchange on social media. The altercation escalated when Hilbert allegedly threatened to “deal” with Ontop. This threat was reportedly followed by the filmmaker’s arrest, which took place on Tuesday when police operatives detained him at the Delta State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Asaba, Delta State.
The associate stated, “The name of the lady is Queeneth Hilbert. She threatened to deal with him and now used the police to get him arrested.”
The Arrest and Release
The arrest stemmed from a petition filed by Hilbert, reportedly accusing Ontop of certain actions that led to his detention. However, Stanley Ontop was released the following evening, on Wednesday, after spending a night at the SCID facility. The filmmaker was reportedly questioned by the police before being set free.
In a video shared on Instagram, a visibly excited Ontop announced his release, chanting, “We are out, we’re out, we’re out. The struggle continues, no leave no transfer. Aluta continua. Thanks to my team and family. The love was massive.”
Context of the Social Media Clash
The clash between Queeneth Hilbert and Stanley Ontop appears to be rooted in a social media exchange that escalated quickly. The dispute led to allegations of defamation, with Hilbert reportedly using derogatory remarks against Ontop. The actress’s decision to allegedly file a police report and use the authorities to resolve a personal conflict has sparked significant attention, especially within the entertainment community.
This incident adds to the growing tension around the use of law enforcement in personal disputes, particularly in the entertainment industry. While the filmmakers’ release has garnered support from his fans and associates, questions remain about the motivations behind Hilbert’s actions and the broader implications for freedom of expression on social media.
Public Reactions
Following Ontop’s release, many of his supporters rallied around him, praising his resilience and affirming his commitment to his work and activism. His Instagram post about the release was met with an outpouring of support, with fans chanting slogans like “Aluta continua,” a call for continuous struggle in the face of adversity.
Meanwhile, Queeneth Hilbert has not publicly commented on the arrest or the events leading up to it. However, this incident has certainly ignited discussions about the use of social media in celebrity conflicts and the potential consequences of bringing personal disputes into the public eye.
