Adekunle Gold Makes History at Wole Soyinka Centre with Star-Studded Concert

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Adekunle Gold made history on Friday, December 26, 2025, as the first artist to headline a concert at the newly renovated National Theatre, now the Wole Soyinka Centre, Lagos. His sold-out show, titled Fuji and sponsored by The Macallan, marked the return of large-scale live performances to the iconic venue, drawing a full house of fans, creatives, and industry insiders.

Guests arrived in style, adhering to a black-tie dress code that set a refined tone. Elegant gowns, sharp tuxedos, and stylish ensembles complemented the grandeur of the venue and the evening’s orchestral theme.

The night kicked off with Olamide, founder of YBNL Nation, hosting with charm and humour, setting the stage for a night of unforgettable performances and energy.

Backed by a 55-piece orchestra and his band, The 79th Element, Adekunle Gold delivered reimagined renditions of his hits, adding depth and texture that transformed familiar songs into a cinematic experience.

Standout moments included Davido joining him on stage to perform “Only God Can Save Me” and “High,” igniting the crowd, while music legends Adewale Ayuba and Yinka Ayefele delivered a breathtaking rendition of Many People, earning one of the loudest ovations of the night.

Between songs, Adekunle Gold shared words of inspiration with the audience: “Don’t stop dreaming, keep daring to be different, do everything on your own terms,” resonating deeply with fans.

The celebration continued at a post-concert after-party, also supported by The Macallan. Big Bimi kept the energy high, with cocktails flowing and a DJ spinning hits for a stylish crowd that included Falz, Do2dtun, SwitOpe, VeeIye, and other creatives, rounding off the evening in high spirits.
