Advocate Urges Government to Enable, Not Restrict, Youth Talent Development

Organizer Modupeola Awofolaju has called on the government to create a more enabling environment for youth development programs, arguing that excessive restrictions are counterproductive.

Speaking at the “Believers Talent Competition” in Ibadan, Awofolaju emphasized the need for collective efforts to nurture the next generation. She revealed that her outreach programs often face bureaucratic and religious resistance when trying to enter public schools.

“This isn’t about religion; it’s about the future of our children,” she stated, urging government agencies, parents, and private bodies to collaborate on empowering youth with skills and purpose.

Supporting this view, Pastor Tayo Ogunleye challenged educators to overhaul Nigeria’s “decades-old” school curriculum to foster creativity and practical skills beyond academics.

The event, themed “Evolve and Thrive,” showcased talents from several schools, with Angels College winning the art category and its student, Usman Mariam, receiving a scholarship.
