Agege Legislative Council Confirms Obasa as Chairman Following Azeez’s Resignation

The 10th Assembly of the Agege Legislative Council, under the leadership of Hon. Adeshina Haruna, on Tuesday formally accepted the resignation of Hon. Tunde Azeez Disco as Chairman of Agege Local Government. Azeez stepped down due to health challenges that had hindered his ability to perform his duties. The council commended his service and wished him a speedy recovery.

Following deliberations, the council unanimously approved Hon. AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa as the substantive Chairman of Agege Local Government. The transition is aimed at ensuring continuity, stability, and effective governance in the council.

During the plenary session, lawmakers also conducted a strategic review of the council’s committee system and oversight functions, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and effective project monitoring across the local government. The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to delivering development-driven initiatives for residents under its renewed leadership.

Speaking with The Nation, APC chieftain Rotimi Sulaiman praised Azeez’s decision as a thoughtful move, noting that prioritizing health over office responsibility was wise. He also lauded Obasa, describing him as a visionary young leader who has shown exceptional capacity during Azeez’s absence.

“The beneficiary of that excellent decision, Abdulganiyu Vinod Obasa, has demonstrated uncommon capacity in the last few months. Agege is lucky to have both men,” Sulaiman said.
