Air Peace Limited, Nigeria’s leading indigenous airline and the largest carrier in West and Central Africa, has steadily grown from a domestic operator into a regional and intercontinental airline in just over a decade.
Founded in 2014, Air Peace commenced operations on October 24 with seven aircraft. Today, it operates a modern fleet of 38 planes, serving 20 domestic destinations and 10 regional and international airports, with more routes in the pipeline. The airline’s fleet includes Boeing 777-200ER wide-body aircraft for long-haul international flights, Boeing 737 series for domestic and regional services, and Embraer 145 and 190 jets for short- and medium-haul operations. Ten Boeing 737 MAX aircraft are also on order as part of its fleet modernization plan.
Air Peace has expanded its international footprint with direct flights from Lagos to London Gatwick and from Abuja to both London Heathrow and Gatwick. Future plans include direct connections from Lagos to São Paulo, Brazil, and Antigua and Barbuda, strengthening Nigeria’s global aviation links.
Passenger experience is a priority, with wide-body aircraft offering premium services and authentic Nigerian cuisine at competitive fares. Safety remains central, with the airline achieving IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification in 2016 and maintaining a flawless safety record.
Investments in infrastructure include a world-class Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Lagos to reduce reliance on foreign maintenance, conserve foreign exchange, create jobs, and build local capacity.
Air Peace has also played a vital role in humanitarian efforts, evacuating Nigerians from crisis zones in South Africa, Libya, Sudan, and Ukraine, enhancing Nigeria’s global image.
Under the leadership of Chairman and CEO Chief Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, CON, the airline continues to pursue its vision of making Nigeria a respected player in global aviation, prioritizing safety, connectivity, affordability, and national pride. With ongoing government support and expansion plans, Air Peace is positioned to further solidify its status as Nigeria’s flagship carrier.
