Al Falah University Founder Jawad Siddiqui Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody in Terror-Linked Money Laundering Case

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday sent Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, founder of Al Falah University, to 14-day judicial custody in connection with a terror-linked money laundering investigation. Siddiqui was earlier under Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody for 13 days starting November 19.

During Monday’s hearing, Siddiqui was produced before Additional Sessions Judge Sheetal Chaudhary Pradhan, who remanded him to judicial custody until December 15, 2025. The ED counsel noted that technically, Siddiqui’s 13-day custody would end at 1 am on Tuesday, making Monday the 12th day.

Health and Medical Facilities in Custody

Siddiqui’s counsel moved an application seeking access to prescribed medication and spectacles during the custody period. The court allowed the request, directing jail authorities to ensure that Siddiqui received his medical treatment without interruption.

Allegations by Enforcement Directorate

The ED has accused Siddiqui and the Al Falah University group of financial irregularities and misrepresentation:

  • False UGC recognition and NAAC accreditation claims were allegedly made to attract students.
  • The university reportedly generated ₹415.10 crore in revenue between 2018 and 2025, despite financial records not matching the assets held by the managing group.
  • Funds raised from students and the public were allegedly diverted for personal and private use.
  • Siddiqui is said to have exercised de facto control over the Al Falah Charitable Trust, the managing trustee, and associated entities.

Searches and Seizures

On the day of Siddiqui’s arrest, the ED conducted searches at 19 locations across Delhi-NCR, recovering approximately ₹48 lakh in cash.

Next Hearing

The case will next be heard on December 15, 2025, following the completion of Siddiqui’s judicial custody.

The matter has drawn significant attention due to the alleged nexus between money laundering and terror financing, and authorities are continuing investigations into the financial activities of Siddiqui and the university group.
