Alexandra Kay Denies Romance Rumors Between Keith Urban and Guitarist Maggie Baugh

Country singer Alexandra Kay is putting an end to swirling rumors linking her friend, rising country star Maggie Baugh, with Keith Urban following his high-profile divorce from actress Nicole Kidman. In a candid interview with Taste of Country on October 22, Kay emphasized that there is no romantic relationship between Baugh and the 57-year-old country superstar.

Alexandra Kay Speaks Out

“Honestly, I was heartbroken for them because the media scrutiny is insane and the things that people say … They’re like, stirring up rumors about Maggie Baugh, and I’m like, ‘She’s a good friend of mine and I know that’s absolutely not true,’” Kay told the outlet.

Kay added that Baugh is currently in a happy relationship, saying, “I’ve met her boyfriend, and she’s very happy, and she has nothing to do with that whole relationship [with Urban].” She also expressed concern about the intense public attention on the situation, stating, “I feel sad for everybody involved that people are doing that and picking apart their personal life. I pray for peace for them and for everybody to have their privacy.”

How the Rumors Began

Speculation about a romance between Urban and Baugh began after Urban and Kidman announced their separation in September 2025, ending a 19-year marriage. Kidman, 58, filed for divorce on September 30, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple shares two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith, 14.

Adding fuel to the rumors, fans noticed Urban’s lyric changes during live performances. For instance, during the High and Alive World Tour, Urban altered the lyrics to his duet with Carrie Underwood, The Fighter, singing, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player,” instead of the original line. Baugh posted the performance clip on September 26, captioning it, “Did he just say that👀.”

However, Urban has clarified in multiple interviews and performances that his lyric changes are not meant to signal anything personal. At his October 17 show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, he told the crowd, “I’ve been covering like this for a long time. Stop reading s— into it. It’s called ‘You’ll Think of Me.’”

Urban’s Focus on Music

Keith Urban’s recent lyric ad-libs have become a talking point, but the singer is encouraging fans to focus on the music rather than speculation. His playful interactions with band members and rising stars like Maggie Baugh are part of his performance style, which has long included onstage improvisation and audience engagement.

Maggie Baugh, 25, continues to thrive as an independent artist, performing at high-profile festivals such as the 2024 iHeartCountry Festival and earning recognition as a rising country music talent. Alexandra Kay’s statements provide clarity and emphasize that the rumored romance is entirely unfounded.
