AltBank Pioneers Digital Payment Pathway for Nigerian Youth

The Alternative Bank, a leading Nigerian financial institution committed to sustainable and inclusive services, has unveiled plans to empower local tech talent and bridge the digital skills gap for youth. This announcement came during the Jericho Businessmen Club’s (JBC) third Annual Socio-Economic Summit, which focused on sustainable economic models and youth empowerment.

The Summit brought together business leaders, policymakers, and academics to discuss actionable strategies for fostering digital literacy, innovation, and entrepreneurship among young Nigerians. The Alternative Bank emphasised that human capital development is critical to nation-building, with technology as a key driver for equitable economic growth.

Korede Demola-Adeniyi, Executive Director (South) of The Alternative Bank, highlighted the Bank’s philosophy:

“Technology is the most potent equaliser in modern commerce, and by investing in the technological upliftment of our youth, we are future-proofing our economy. We believe in providing alternatives not just in finance, but in opportunity, ensuring that local talent have the tools and environment to compete globally.”

Demola-Adeniyi further explained that the Bank is exploring strategic partnerships to launch bespoke non-interest financing schemes aimed at tech entrepreneurship and vocational skills acquisition. The goal is to transform local innovation hubs into centres of excellence, producing solutions capable of competing on a global scale.

The initiative aligns with Nigeria’s broader economic objectives, particularly the need to diversify revenue sources beyond oil, attract foreign direct investment, reduce youth unemployment, and foster high-value digital services.

The Alternative Bank’s participation in the summit underscores its commitment to inclusive economic growth, mentorship, and sustainable impact-driven projects that benefit both the local tech community and the wider economy.
