Amaechi’s Problem Is Political Irrelevance, Not Tinubu, Says Lagos APC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed remarks by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, suggesting that Nigerians should mobilise to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

In a statement issued yesterday in Ogba, Lagos, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, described Amaechi’s comments as “political hallucination,” saying the former minister had become a “political orphan” both in Rivers State and at the national level.

“Amaechi is free to dream, but he must stop mistaking his nightmares for national reality. He is a political orphan — disowned in Rivers, irrelevant nationally, and steadily sinking into total political oblivion,” Oladejo stated.

He said Amaechi’s declining influence in Rivers State makes his recent comments unworthy of serious attention.

“In Rivers today, mentioning Amaechi’s name in political discussions is seen as a joke. A man who has lost his structure, followers, and voice is now claiming he can mobilise Nigerians. Mobilise who? The few loyalists left in his WhatsApp group?” he asked rhetorically.

Oladejo added that Amaechi’s issue was not with Tinubu but with his own political irrelevance.

“His problem is not Tinubu — his problem is political irrelevance. It’s always the loudest losers who shout the most about 2027,” he said.

The APC spokesman noted that while Amaechi is “trying to resurrect his collapsed career,” President Tinubu remains focused on governance and delivering on his Renewed Hope Agenda.

“While he shouts from the sidelines, President Tinubu is rebuilding the nation — with NELFUND unlocking education for millions, CREDITCORP supporting SMEs, massive infrastructure renewal, and economic reforms stabilising the country,” Oladejo added.

He argued that Tinubu’s performance has earned him recognition even among opposition supporters, saying:

“Even opposition voters now admit, though grudgingly, that Tinubu is miles ahead of any contender.”

Oladejo further questioned Amaechi’s political base, saying one cannot “mobilise a nation without a structure.”

“Where is Amaechi’s political platform? Where are his followers? In politics, you can’t give what you don’t have. He cannot mobilise a nation when he cannot command a polling unit,” he said.

The Lagos APC spokesman concluded that Nigerians would not be swayed by “failed politicians” seeking relevance.

“2027 will not reward bitterness or betrayal; it will reward leadership, courage, and results. Tinubu has all three in abundance. Amaechi’s statement is not a rallying cry — it’s a cry for help,” Oladejo declared.
