The ongoing turmoil within Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family intensified as four of the RJD chief’s daughters—Rajlakshmi, Ragini, Chanda, and Hema Yadav—quietly left the family residence in Patna and traveled to Delhi with their children. Their departure comes two days after Rohini Acharya’s explosive public resignation from politics and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
According to ANI, Rajlakshmi, Ragini, and Chanda were seen leaving for Delhi with their families, while Hema Yadav also departed for the national capital, PTI reported. Sources told India Today that the sisters were deeply disturbed by the events of the past few days, signaling a widening rift within one of Bihar’s most prominent political families.
The crisis began when Rohini, based in Singapore, publicly quit politics and alleged that she was subjected to “filthy abuses” and that someone had even attempted to hit her with a slipper during a confrontation involving two of Tejashwi Yadav’s close aides, Sanjay Yadav and Rameez. Her allegations followed a major setback for the RJD in the Bihar Assembly elections, where the party’s tally fell sharply from 75 to around 25 seats.
The departure of Rajlakshmi, Ragini, Chanda, and Hema from 10 Circular Road, the Yadav family home, comes amid growing concern over the family feud. Rohini’s public statements have also reignited tensions involving her elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav, who was expelled from both the party and the family earlier this year. Posting on the Janshakti Janata Dal’s social media, Tej Pratap said he was deeply shaken by Rohini’s humiliation and warned that the consequences of the “injustice” would be severe.
He claimed the fight now concerned “the dignity of a daughter and the self-respect of Bihar,” while accusing “a few faces” of clouding Tejashwi Yadav’s judgment. Tej Pratap’s earlier controversies, including his strained marriage and ongoing divorce proceedings with Aishwarya Rai, have kept him in the political spotlight.
The unfolding family drama adds another layer of complexity to the RJD’s challenges as it grapples with both internal divisions and electoral setbacks.
