AMVCA Opens Call for Entries for 12th Edition

Africa Magic, the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), has officially opened submissions for the 12th edition of the continental film awards. Filmmakers and content creators across Africa are invited to submit their works for consideration between Sunday, January 11, 2026, and Sunday, February 15, 2026.

The AMVCA, MultiChoice’s flagship initiative, celebrates and rewards outstanding African storytelling across film and television, highlighting the continent’s creativity and global potential. The 12th edition promises to continue this legacy, showcasing both established and emerging talent while reinforcing the AMVCA as Africa’s most prestigious entertainment awards platform.

This year’s edition introduces expanded Indigenous Language categories, including Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa, reflecting the awards’ commitment to cultural diversity. In total, the 12th AMVCA will feature 32 award categories: 18 jury-decided, 11 audience-voted, plus special recognition awards for Lifetime Achievement and a Trailblazer award.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, in May 2026, promising a grand celebration of African creativity and storytelling excellence.
