Anambra 2025: APC Candidate Ukachukwu Votes, Alleges Widespread Vote Buying

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Anambra, Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, has raised allegations of widespread vote buying in the ongoing election, particularly accusing the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) of the practice.

Ukachukwu made the remarks shortly after casting his vote at Polling Unit 012, Umudimala Amaihe Hall, Osumenyi, Nnewi South Local Government Area. He described vote buying as a “menace” that threatens the nation’s democratic process, warning that it could paralyze governance if left unchecked.

“From what I have been hearing, there have been reports of hitches and security challenges, but largely there has been vote buying. It is a collective treasury that has been looted and given back to people to get back their mandate. It is a bad thing that everybody should condemn,” he said.

He further claimed that one of his party agents was beaten in Utuh, Nnewi South Local Government Area. Ukachukwu urged security agencies to take responsibility for curbing electoral fraud and called for collective condemnation of the practice.

Despite the allegations, Ukachukwu expressed confidence in his party’s chances, stating, “I believe God that winning is still possible because the day is still young.” He also commended INEC for the timely arrival of materials and officials, which he said has improved the electoral process in the state.
