Anambra Decides: Live Updates and Results from Governorship Election

The Anambra off-cycle governorship election is being held today, Saturday, November 8, 2025. Anambra is among eight states holding elections outside the general timetable, alongside Bayelsa, Kogi, Imo, Osun, Ondo, Edo, and Ekiti.

Anambra first experienced an off-cycle governorship election in 2003, following a court decision that sacked PDP candidate Chris Ngige and installed Peter Obi of APGA after a two-year tribunal case at the Court of Appeal in Enugu.

This year, 16 candidates are contesting, including:

  • Nwosu Chima John – ADC
  • Ukachukwu Nicholas – APC
  • Soludo Charles – APGA

  • Nweke Christopher Chukwudubem – APP
  • Okeke Chika Jerry – BP
  • Moghalu George – LP
  • Onyejgbu Geoffrey – NNPP
  • Ndidi Christy Olieh – NRM
  • Ezenwafor Jude – PDP
  • Chukwurah Vincent – SDP
  • Chukwuma Paul Chukwuka – YPP
  • Ugwoji Uchenna – ZLP

INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan has reaffirmed the commission’s readiness for the election. He stated that 24,000 personnel have been deployed and that voting will take place in 5,718 of 5,720 polling units, with two units left out due to the absence of voters.

The incumbent governor, Soludo, remains a major contender in this tightly contested election.
