The Anambra State Police Command has successfully rescued a three-year-old girl reportedly stolen from her parents in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed on Saturday that the primary suspect, Chioma Anioma, an apprentice in the victim’s household, initially fled arrest in Calabar, Cross River State, where she had allegedly sold the child to an accomplice who remains at large.
Ikenga stated that the child has been safely reunited with her parents, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend all individuals involved in the abduction and trafficking.
He added, “Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu, acting on intelligence from a case transferred from Ogbaru Division, Atani, successfully recovered the child in the early hours of November 21, 2025. Preliminary investigations revealed that the child was stolen by Chioma Anioma, who later abandoned the girl in Nnobi and informed the parents of her location to evade arrest.”
The police are intensifying efforts to trace and arrest the remaining suspects linked to the criminal syndicate behind the abduction and trafficking.
