With just over two weeks until one of the most talked-about crossover boxing events of the year, Anthony Joshua has officially confirmed he is on weight for his upcoming clash with Jake Paul. The heavyweight showdown is scheduled for 19 December in Miami, marking one of the most highly anticipated matchups of 2025.
Joshua Weighs In at 110.6kg – On Track for Limit
In a video posted on his social media channels, the 36-year-old former unified heavyweight world champion stepped on the scales at 110.6kg, comfortably under the agreed limit of 17st 7lb (111kg).
Joshua joked about the attention around his weight, saying:
“They must have forgot. I’m used to dealing with big weights and scales.”
Despite competing his entire career as a natural heavyweight—with no need to cut weight—Joshua has accepted a rare weight cap requested by Paul’s team. Heavyweight boxers usually face no upper weight restrictions, but this match-up comes with unique conditions due to Paul’s career history.
Weight Discrepancy Sparks Debate
Jake Paul, 28, has typically fought near cruiserweight, with his heaviest bout coming in at 103kg during his fight with Mike Tyson in 2024. Given the size difference, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that Paul’s camp initially attempted to set an even lower limit before settling on the current 111kg cap.
The fight will be contested over six rounds, with both men wearing standard 10oz gloves.
