APC Secretary Basiru Tells Wike to Resign, Accuses Him of Meddling in Rivers Politics

Senator Ajibola Basiru, National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to resign immediately and stop interfering in Rivers State politics.

Basiru’s statement, released Monday, came after Wike criticized him and the APC over internal party matters in Rivers State. He argued that Wike, as a former Rivers governor and non-APC member, has no right to meddle in the party’s affairs.

He described Wike’s claims that APC leaders were seeking N600 billion in Rivers as “cheap blackmail”, challenging him to provide proof or face legal consequences. Basiru also accused Wike of importing PDP-style politics into the APC, destabilizing the party at the state level.

“The honourable thing to do is to resign his appointment as Minister,” Basiru stated, emphasizing that Wike cannot hold a federal position in an APC-led government while causing confusion within the party.

Basiru concluded by asserting that his faith in God and his commitment to the party’s integrity would not succumb to threats or political pressure.
