The All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader in Kibiya Local Government Area of Kano State, Hajiya Sabuwa Tarai, has led more than 100 party members to defect to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
Their defection took place on Tuesday, with the group officially received into the NNPP by the Kano State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Alhaji Adamu A. Kibiya, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by Balarabe Kiru, the ministry’s Director of Public Enlightenment.
Kiru explained that Tarai and her supporters cited the “numerous development projects and people-oriented initiatives” of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration as their reason for leaving the APC.
“We are impressed by the numerous projects executed by Governor Yusuf both at the local government and state levels,” Tarai stated during the event.
Receiving the defectors, Commissioner Kibiya welcomed them to the NNPP fold, assuring them of equal opportunity and inclusion within the party. He also encouraged them to remain united and contribute meaningfully to the NNPP’s continued growth and success in the state.
