‘Apply Same Force Used In Benin Republic To Nigeria’s Terrorists,’ Deji Adeyanju Tells Tinubu

Human rights activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deploy the same decisive military force used in halting the recent coup attempt in the Republic of Benin against terrorist and armed groups terrorizing Nigeria.

In a statement on Monday, Adeyanju praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for their bold intervention in Benin, highlighting the coordinated use of Air Force jets and ground troops that successfully protected the neighboring country’s democratic government.

“This is a proud moment for me as a Nigerian who values democracy and understands the dangers of military rule,” Adeyanju said. He stressed, however, that such a victory is incomplete if Nigeria does not confront terrorism, banditry, and violent extremism within its own borders.

“The same might displayed in Benin should be applied with even greater resolve to crush the terrorist groups operating within our borders, so that Nigeria can truly lead by example,” he added.

Adeyanju emphasized that Nigeria’s role in ECOWAS and its regional influence will only be meaningful when citizens feel secure at home, urging the government to prioritize domestic security with the same urgency shown during the Benin intervention.
