Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh: The temple city of Ayodhya is gearing up for a spectacular Deepotsav 2025, promising a visual and cultural extravaganza as 2.8 million lamps are set to illuminate 56 ghats along the holy Sarayu River. The festival is expected to draw thousands of locals, devotees, and tourists, offering a grand celebration of lights and devotion.
Preparations for the festival have been extensive. Around 33,000 volunteers, including students, teachers, and residents, have been actively involved in decorating the ghats, setting the stage for one of the most visually stunning Diwali celebrations in the country. Reports from news agency ANI highlighted the scale of these efforts, noting the meticulous arrangements being made across the city.
Highlight of the Festival: 32-Foot Pushpak Viman
A standout feature of this year’s Deepotsav is a 32-foot-tall Pushpak Viman installed at Ram Ki Paidi. The installation, designed to capture the imagination of visitors, depicts scenes from the Ramayana, providing an immersive experience of the epic for devotees and tourists alike. The Viman will serve as both a cultural centerpiece and a tribute to the city’s religious heritage, attracting crowds from across India.
Ahead of the festival, a trial of a laser light show was conducted at the Ram Ki Paidi and Naya Ghat, giving a preview of the visual spectacle to come. Authorities have emphasized that the event will adhere to strict safety protocols to ensure the wellbeing of attendees. Volunteers have been provided with identification cards and special T-shirts, and access to the ghats will be strictly regulated. In addition, food safety teams are monitoring the areas to maintain hygiene during the celebrations.
Spiritual Significance and Swadeshi Message
Saint Diwakaracharya Ji Maharaj highlighted the unique spiritual significance of this Diwali, noting that it is the first major celebration since the grand installation of Shri Ram in the Ram Temple after 500 years. “We have brought earthen lamps from local potters and made all necessary arrangements. This Diwali promises to be truly remarkable,” he said, emphasizing both devotion and community participation.
Saints and local authorities have also encouraged the use of Swadeshi products during the festival. Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das Ji Maharaj shared details of the morning rituals that marked the start of the celebrations. Devotees performed puja following Swasti mantras and sacred rites, lighting lamps for Lord Ram, the Sarayu River, Hanuman Ji, Mata Adi Shakti Maa Bhagwati Sita Ji, and the entire Ram Darbar.
“The lamp laying on the banks of the Sarayu marks the beginning of Diwali in Ayodhya. It is a historic celebration that reflects devotion, community spirit, and reverence for tradition,” Vishnu Das Ji added.
With elaborate decorations, immersive installations, and millions of lamps illuminating the holy ghats, Deepotsav 2025 in Ayodhya promises to be one of the most memorable and culturally rich Diwali celebrations in recent times, blending spirituality, heritage, and the joy of lights in a grand spectacle.
