Barabanki, UP: Two sisters in Barabanki have alleged that they were gang-raped following a violent clash between two groups over a dispute regarding a village pathway. Police have registered cases against 19 individuals, including five specifically in connection with the gang rape allegations. Investigations are ongoing.
The incident took place on November 3 within the jurisdiction of the Asandra police station. According to police, a fight erupted between the two groups over the use of a village pathway. Following the altercation, one of the women approached the police, alleging that she and her sister had been gang-raped during the conflict.
The five accused named in the gang rape case have been identified as Mayaram, his brother Rampal, and Mayaram’s sons Jaskaran, Balkaran, and Changu.
“The two groups had a long-standing dispute over the village pathway. Initially, one group attacked a young woman, and when the other side heard her cries, they retaliated by beating up the attackers. Thereafter, the gang rape allegations surfaced,” said Station House Officer (SHO) Alok Mani Tripathi, City police station.
Police have sent both women for medical examinations, and their statements will be formally recorded as part of the investigation. Authorities confirmed that all cases are under active inquiry, and further updates will be shared as the probe progresses.
