
The 8th edition of Beauty West Africa, Africa’s largest beauty and cosmetics expo, opened in Lagos, drawing exhibitors from over 55 countries and more than 4,000 visitors from 47 nations. The event provides a platform for global brands, distributors, and manufacturers to showcase products, explore partnerships, and seek franchise opportunities in Nigeria, Africa’s largest cosmetics market.
Nigeria’s beauty and personal care industry was valued at $7.8 billion in 2023, with an annual growth rate projected at 17.7% between 2023 and 2027. The country imports over $1.1 billion in cosmetics, perfumes, essential oils, and toiletries, making it a strategic hub for international expansion.
Key highlights from the expo:
- 350 exhibitors and 6,000 beauty professionals attended.
- Discussions included collaboration across the haircare industry, quality and transparency, distribution and retail strategies, and innovation in regulation.
- Nigerian brands like Sora Cosmetics and Aziza Cosmetics explored local manufacturing and expansion opportunities.
- Organisers emphasized that the expo fosters market access, competitive pricing, and strategic partnerships despite prevailing economic challenges.
