Blake Lively Claims Over $160 Million in Lost Earnings
Blake Lively is pursuing more than $160 million in damages amid her ongoing lawsuit against Justin Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios. The legal dispute stems from the 2024 film adaptation of It Ends With Us, which Lively alleges involved sexual harassment, a toxic set, and a retaliatory smear campaign orchestrated by Baldoni and others.
In newly unsealed court documents originally submitted in July 2025, Lively claims she has suffered substantial losses in past and future earnings, including acting fees, speaking engagements, producing, and personal business ventures.
Breakdown of Alleged Financial Losses
According to the court filing, the damages sought include:
- $56 million in lost acting and professional earnings
- $71 million in lost profits from her business ventures, including Betty Buzz, Betty Booze, and Blake Brown Beauty
- $34 million for reputational harm, based on approximately 65 million negative impressions generated on social media
Additionally, Lively seeks punitive damages, attorney’s fees, and compensation for emotional distress, estimating “pain and suffering, physical pain, and humiliation” between $250,000 and $400,000. These figures are preliminary and will be subject to expert testimony during trial.
Legal Developments and Counterclaims
This lawsuit follows a series of complex legal maneuvers. Baldoni had previously filed a $400 million defamation countersuit against Lively, which was formally dismissed on October 31, 2025, after his legal team chose not to amend the complaint further. U.S. District Court Judge Lewis J. Liman also dismissed Baldoni’s $250 million defamation claim against The New York Times.
In response, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, emphasized that procedural updates had been mischaracterized in media coverage and noted that his clients preserved their appeal rights by not filing an amended complaint.
Lively’s Advocacy and Public Statements
Since the dismissal of Baldoni’s countersuit, Lively has been vocal about the personal toll the legal battle has taken. In June 2025, she posted on Instagram:
“Like so many others, I’ve felt the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit, including the manufactured shame that tries to break us. While the suit against me was defeated, so many don’t have the resources to fight back.”
She added that the experience had strengthened her resolve to advocate for women’s rights:
“I am now more resolved than ever to continue to stand for every woman’s right to have a voice in protecting themselves, including their safety, their integrity, their dignity and their story.”
Trial Scheduled for March 2026
The ongoing case is set to go to trial in March 2026 in the Southern District of New York. The litigation continues to be closely watched by Hollywood insiders, as it involves not only allegations of workplace harassment and retaliation but also potential implications for celebrity business ventures and reputational management.
The outcome of the case could have significant ramifications for both Lively and Baldoni, as well as for industry standards regarding on-set behavior and the rights of actors and producers to protect their professional integrity.
