Bolanle Austen-Peters Reveals N90 Million as Her Least Expensive Film Budget

Filmmaker and culture entrepreneur Bolanle Austen-Peters (BAP) disclosed that her least expensive film was produced with a budget of N90 million. She shared this insight at the 5th Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference, where she was the keynote speaker.

The film, “Collision Course” (later retitled “Collision”), is a 2021 Nigerian drama that tells the story of a struggling police officer and an emerging artist. The movie featured notable actors including Daniel Etim Effiong, Zainab Balogun, Chioma Chukwuka, Kelechi Udegbe, Nobert Young, and Bimbo Manuel.

“Collision” also gained recognition internationally, serving as the closing film for the 10th Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in 2021 and as the opening film for the Athens Nollywood Travel Film Festival in 2022.

BAP’s revelation highlights the evolving dynamics of Nollywood, demonstrating that high-impact films can be achieved with relatively modest budgets while achieving critical and festival success.
